Michigan is paving the way for clean, affordable transportation — but some lawmakers want to hit the brakes. New legislative proposals could increase electric vehicle (EV) fees, adding hundreds of dollars to what drivers already pay.
That’s not fair. EV owners already pay more in road-related fees than many gas car drivers — despite not using gasoline, and despite facing higher vehicle costs and fewer charging stations. Michigan’s current EV drivers pay an average of $50 more in registration surcharges than what gas drivers pay in fuel taxes in a year. Raising it now would only add insult to injury.
We need a smarter approach to road funding — one that’s fair and data-driven.
Join us in calling for No New EV Fees! Together, we can protect Michigan’s clean mobility progress and make sure drivers aren’t punished for choosing cleaner, cost-saving vehicles.
What You Can Do:
Let’s modernize road funding the right way — without stalling Michigan’s electric future.
