We, the undersigned, call upon the Ann Arbor City Council to approve and fund the City’s draft carbon neutrality plan, designed to reduce the community’s net greenhouse gas emissions to zero, by the year 2030. The target date follows the directive of the world’s preeminent climate scientists, who’ve determined that countries need to dramatically eliminate climate emissions in the coming decade.
On November 4, 2019, the Ann Arbor City Council unanimously passed a resolution which:
Accordingly, the carbon neutrality plan has been developed with the assistance of dozens of technical advisors, the input from hundreds of community partners and the support of expert consultants.
Now it’s time to back up those strong words with strong actions. We call upon the City Council to approve and fund the carbon neutrality plan now.
